Innovation, in the heart of VINCI’s business

The R&D and Innovation policies of VINCI contribute to addressing the key challenges of tomorrow in urban development, sustainable mobility and energy transitions.

VINCI has been engaging with the university community on a daily basis. Its partnership with three ParisTech schools gave birth to the “Eco-design of Building Complexes and Infrastructure” Chair in 2008. Its work focuses on energy performance, urban agriculture, smart grids, smart cities, renewable energies and sustainable mobility. The Group also involves in the Economics of Public-Private Partnerships Chair (EPPP) of IAE de Paris (l’Institut d’Administration des Enterprises de Paris) which dedicates itself to researching on the challenges of Public-Private Partnership.

VINCI also took initiative in creating “La Fabrique de la Cité” (The City Factory), a future-oriented think tank and an exchange platform with high-level involvement in urban development and mobility issues for public and private players across the board. The City Factory mainly focuses on leverages of city optimization, mobility in the outskirts of town and using urban big data or open data in the development of new urban services.

VINCI releases its innovation potential by encouraging the most practical and down to earth initiatives from its companies and its staff through VINCI Innovation Awards, which is held every two year and open to all employees and all worldwide students. It encompasses the full range of innovations that drive progress within the Group, notably in the fields of safety, sustainable development and improving working conditions. In 2015, the VINCI Innovation Awards received 2,212 employee applications.
